What’s the best way to clear your incoming water pipes of accumulated debris?
We collect rainwater off our roof and it goes into a collection tank, from there it is pumped into a header tank and then runs into the house using gravity.
The water flow in the house has got slower and slower especially to the solar hot water system (house is 20 years old) and we think it is due to a build up of gunk in the pipes.
What is the best method of clearing the pipes (remembering that these carry drinking water)?
if you have steel pipes, replace them! You can get a pump to increase water pressure in your house, they are used when supply pressure is low. Water pressure is measured at .434 psi per foot of head from bottom of holding tank. Municipalities use this formula to design water towers or they use a pumping system to increase pressure in water mains.
