I first ran into the RainXchange concept about 6 months ago and I wrote several articles on the idea, which I found fascinating not just from the view point of aesthetics but also functionality. If you look at the videos below I think you will see what I mean.

As you can see, the potential for water storage and aesthetics is amazing. And this is just a small one they can be built to hold several thousand gallons of water.

This could be a do it your self project and the following is the installation video that was made for installers.

As you can see from these videos, if you are handy you could build one of these your self. The kits are available on the internet and the videos are pretty thorough about the installation details. If you are looking for a project this one could keep you busy for part of the summer.

The developers of the RainXchange systems also make a small selection of rainwater barrels. They love videos and they even made one to help you install their rainwater barrels.

These rain barrels aren’t as effective as the full RainXchange systems for controlling run off but they are allot easier to install and they still are quite aesthetic and will provide water to water the garden or your lawn.
